How we review

How we review internet providers

ShopHighSpeed compares internet, phone plans and home tech. We use providers' own filings and labels, check every price on a stated date, and rank each option the same way whether or not we earn a commission.

01
We use public data
Coverage comes from FCC filings. Prices and typical speeds come from each plan's label. Every page shows when we checked them.
02
Providers can't pay for placement
No provider pays for a higher score or a better position. Commissions don't affect the order.
03
We explain the catch
We write in plain language and put the main condition up front. For example, our Mint review starts with the fact that you pay a year in advance.

An example

Our best prepaid pick
NOW Internet, $30/mo
It ranks first in our prepaid internet guide on price and speed. We rank every provider by the same method, whether or not we have a partnership with it.

How the scores work
Every provider gets a score out of 10: speed & value 40%, reliability 35%, support 15%, terms 10%. The weights are the same for every provider.

How the site is funded

Some links on the site are affiliate links. If you sign up through one, the provider or retailer may pay us a commission. You pay the same price. Scores and rankings don't change based on commissions. Ads are labeled "Advertisement".

Commissions and ads pay for the site, which is free to use. If the best option doesn't pay us, it still ranks first. See our advertiser disclosure.

Corrections

If you find a wrong price or an outdated plan, contact us. We check it against the provider's label, correct the page and note the change.
