The short answer

Black Friday 2026 is Friday, November 27, the day after Thanksgiving (Thursday, November 26). Cyber Monday is November 30. Most big stores close on Thanksgiving and open around 6 a.m. on Black Friday, but the sales start much earlier online: Target's early deals begin November 5, and Walmart's first event runs November 12 to 15. Amazon and Best Buy hadn't announced their dates as of October 29.

Is it better to shop on Black Friday or Cyber Monday?

For most tech, there's little difference. Many Black Friday prices carry through Cyber Monday, and some brands add new deals on Monday, especially on laptops, software and subscriptions. TVs and doorbusters tend to be strongest from Thanksgiving night through Black Friday. Our Cyber Monday tech deals page covers the second peak.

If an item you want hits a price you're happy with in early November, it's often fine to buy it then. Most big retailers offer price adjustments or extended holiday returns. Our guide on how to tell if a Black Friday deal is real explains how to check a price against its history.

Early access and memberships

Several stores give paying members a head start. Walmart+ members typically get online access a few hours before each Walmart event, and Best Buy's paid memberships have had early access to select Black Friday deals in past years. Amazon's best Black Friday prices are usually open to everyone, but some Lightning Deals are Prime-only. If you're thinking of joining a membership just for the sales, check whether the free trial covers the dates you need.

How to get the best Black Friday price

  • Make a list early. Note the exact model numbers. TV and laptop makers often sell special Black Friday versions with fewer features at a lower price.
  • Check the price history. A big "was" price doesn't mean much if the item sold for the sale price last month.
  • Know the return window. Most big retailers extend holiday returns into January, which lets you buy early and still return it if the price drops.
  • Ask about price adjustments. Some stores refund the difference if their own price drops soon after you buy. Policies change for the holidays, so check before you rely on it.
  • Shop online on Thanksgiving. Stores are closed, but many retailers post their Black Friday prices online on Thursday.

Black Friday internet, phone and streaming deals

Internet providers and phone carriers run Black Friday offers too, usually as gift cards, a free month or a bonus device rather than lower monthly prices. Those offers often start in early November and run through December. Streaming services sometimes cut their first few months to a few dollars. We list the current ones on our Black Friday deals hub and our streaming deals page.
