Which airlines have Starlink Wi-Fi?
Satellite Wi-Fi from low-orbit networks is replacing the slow, patchy in-flight internet most of us know. Here is where each US airline stands.
United is furthest along and plans Starlink on its whole fleet, including regional jets, by the end of 2027. American said on Oct 8, 2026 it will put Starlink on all of its more than 1,000 mainline jets, starting in early 2027. Alaska and Southwest have Starlink deals too. Delta chose Amazon Leo, starting with 500 planes in 2028.
US airlines and their Wi-Fi plans
American goes fleetwide
American first said in May 2026 that it would add Starlink to about 500 Airbus jets. On Oct 8 it expanded that to its entire mainline fleet, including Boeing 737s, 777s and 787s. Installs begin in early 2027, with no completion date given. American says the system supports speeds up to 1 Gbps to the plane. AAdvantage members already get free Wi-Fi on eligible flights, so joining (free) is worth doing before you fly.
Why Delta picked Amazon Leo
Delta announced in March 2026 that it would install Amazon Leo, formerly Project Kuiper, starting with 500 aircraft in 2028. Delta cited its existing partnership with Amazon Web Services. Amazon has roughly 300 satellites in orbit and has not started commercial service, compared with more than 10,000 for Starlink. Delta's current Wi-Fi stays in place until then.
Is Starlink on a plane the same as at home?
It uses the same satellite network but a different antenna and a service plan the airline buys. Speeds per passenger depend on how many people are online. For the home service, see our Starlink review and whether Starlink is worth it. For an RV or boat, Starlink Mini is the portable option.
Amazon Leo has also said it will sell home internet. We will add it to our satellite internet comparison once it publishes plans.
