The best webcams of 2026

Five webcams for calls and streaming, and why your upload speed matters as much as the camera.

The short answer

The Logitech MX Brio is the best all-round webcam for work calls. The Logitech C920s is still the budget standard. If you move around while you talk, the Insta360 Link 2 follows you. Your picture on a call is often limited by upload speed, so check that you have at least 3 to 4 Mbps up per 1080p call.

Your internet matters too

A 4K webcam does not make a call look 4K. Zoom, Teams and Meet compress video to about 720p or 1080p, and your upload speed decides how much detail gets through. Cable plans often have far less upload than download.

Pro tip

Plug your computer into the router with Ethernet, or use a hub with an Ethernet port. A wired connection fixes most frozen-video problems faster than a new camera.

  • 1080p video call: about 3 to 4 Mbps upload
  • Several people on calls at once: add 3 to 4 Mbps for each
  • Live streaming in 1080p: 6 Mbps upload or more

How we picked

We compared published lab tests, owner reports and maker specs, and ranked on:

  • Image quality in normal room light
  • Built-in mics and privacy shutter
  • Software and app support
  • Price

More on our process is in how we research.

Others we considered

  • Logitech Brio 4K: The older 4K Brio; fine if you find it cheaper than the MX Brio.
  • Razer Kiyo Pro: Good in low light, but the MX Brio is sharper.
  • Phone as a webcam: Continuity Camera on a Mac or Windows Phone Link can beat a cheap webcam for free.

Questions

Is a 4K webcam worth it?

Only for recording or streaming. Video calls compress the picture, so a good 1080p camera looks nearly the same.

Why does my webcam look blurry on calls?

Usually low light or a weak upload. Add light in front of you and test your upload speed.

Do webcams work with TVs?

Some do, for FaceTime on Apple TV or Google Meet on Google TV. Check your device's camera support.
