The short answer

Cox is now Spectrum. Existing Cox plans keep their price until you change them, and when a Cox promo ends the bill moves to Cox's standard rate, often $20 to $40 more. The Spectrum plans now sold in Cox areas cost $30 to $80 a month for the first year, then $50 to $125 at the address we checked. If your promo has ended, compare your bill with the Spectrum plan at the same speed.

Cox is now Spectrum

Charter completed its purchase of Cox on August 20, 2026, and Spectrum's plans and prices went live in former Cox markets on September 16. Existing Cox plans keep their current price and terms until you change them; new sign-ups get Spectrum pricing.

If you still have a Cox promo

Cox promos typically lasted 12 to 24 months. When yours ends, your bill moves to Cox's standard rate for that plan, which raised bills by about $21 a month on average, and up to $40, before the merger. Check your bill for the promo end date.

Before your promo ends

Look up the Spectrum plan at the same speed for your address. If its first-year price is lower than your Cox standard rate, switching saves money for at least a year.

How to lower your bill

These steps work whether you are on a Cox plan or a new Spectrum one.

  1. Compare your bill with Spectrum's current price. Include equipment fees in both.
  2. Ask to switch plans. Cox and Spectrum support can move you to a Spectrum plan; your service stays on.
  3. Add a mobile line if you will use it. Spectrum offers a free Unlimited mobile line for 12 months to Cox internet customers, and bundles can lower the internet price.
  4. Use your own equipment where it saves. On Internet 100 and 500, skipping Panoramic WiFi saves $10 a month if you have your own router.
  5. Compare other providers. Fiber, T-Mobile or Verizon 5G Home Internet may reach your address at a fixed price.

Questions

How much does Cox go up after the promo?

Cox promos used to raise bills by about $20 to $40 a month when they ended. On the Spectrum plans now sold in Cox areas, prices rise from $30, $40, $60 and $80 in year one to $50, $85, $105 and $125 after, at the address we checked.

Can Cox customers get Spectrum promo prices?

Yes. Since September 16, 2026, Spectrum plans and their first-year prices are open to Cox customers who choose to switch, not only new customers.

Will my Cox price change because of the Spectrum merger?

Not on its own. Existing Cox plans and prices continue until you change them. A Cox promo you already have runs on its existing terms.

Is Panoramic WiFi still extra?

On Spectrum plans in Cox areas, WiFi equipment is included on 1 Gig and 2 Gig and adds $10 a month on Internet 100 and 500.

Should I switch from my Cox plan to Spectrum?

Compare your current bill, including equipment and fees, with the Spectrum plan at the same speed. If your Cox promo has ended, a Spectrum plan is often cheaper for the first year.
