Is Astound the same as RCN?
Yes. RCN, Wave, Grande and enTouch all became Astound Broadband. Here's what that means for your account.
Yes. Astound Broadband is the company behind the former RCN (Boston, New York, Philadelphia, DC, Chicago), Wave (West Coast), Grande (Texas) and enTouch brands. It's the same cable network under one name. Boston-area customers can still sign in at my.rcn.com. Astound is now combining with GFiber in a deal expected to close in late 2026.
Which old brand became Astound
What changed for customers
The network, the installers and most plans carried over. New customers get Astound's current plans: 1 Gig from $40/mo, or $45 with Price for Life. Lower tiers have data caps (400 GB on 300 Mbps, 1 TB on 600 Mbps).
Astound and GFiber are merging
In March 2026, Astound and GFiber (formerly Google Fiber) agreed to combine into one company, majority owned by Stonepeak, with Alphabet keeping a minority stake. It's expected to close in the fourth quarter of 2026, and no new brand name has been announced. See who owns every internet provider.
