Our verdict
Google Fiber has renamed itself gFiber, and the product is the same idea: fast symmetrical fiber with simple pricing. Plans include Home 3 Gig and Edge 8 Gig, with a custom Wi-Fi 7 router and up to two mesh extenders in the monthly price.
gFiber says its prices haven't changed in over 13 years, and there are no contracts or data caps. Prices are plus taxes and a local access fee, so the bill is a little higher than the plan price. Battery backup for outages is $10/mo on Home 3 Gig and included on Edge 8 Gig.
The footprint is larger than it used to be: 19 states and about 45 metros, from Huntsville and Atlanta to Denver, Salt Lake City, Seattle and San Diego. If it's in your city, it's hard to beat.
In J.D. Power's 2026 U.S. Internet Service Provider Satisfaction Study (October 2026), GFiber ranked highest among wired providers in the South for the fourth year in a row with 707 out of 1,000, the highest score of any wired provider in the study, ahead of AT&T (611) and Frontier (604).
