The short answer

Yes, it uses Verizon's network. Unlimited is $30/mo per line, Unlimited Plus $40 and Unlimited Ultra $60, with taxes and fees included, plus a $10/mo internet discount for each Unlimited line (up to $30). You must have Mediacom internet, TV or home phone to sign up.

Is Mediacom Mobile really on Verizon's network?

Yes. Mediacom launched the service in July 2024 as a Verizon MVNO, so calls and data use Verizon's 5G and 4G LTE towers. Like most MVNO lines, your data can be prioritised below Verizon's own postpaid customers when a tower is busy, and you slow down once you pass the premium-data amount.

How much can you save with Mediacom internet?

Mediacom takes $10 a month off your internet bill for each Unlimited mobile line, up to $30, for as long as you keep both. At least one line has to be ported in from another carrier. Two lines of Unlimited at $30 each, minus $20 off internet, works out to $40 a month for two phones.

Our phone-bundle discounts guide compares this with AT&T, Verizon, Spectrum and Xfinity offers.

What is the catch?

  • You need Mediacom service. Mediacom only sells mobile to its internet, TV or home phone customers, so leaving Mediacom means moving your phone too.
  • Data slows after the premium amount on Unlimited and Unlimited Plus.
  • SD video on the cheaper plans. HD needs Unlimited Plus.
  • Coverage is Verizon's, so check Verizon's map where you live and travel.

Who is Mediacom Mobile good for?

It makes sense if you already have Mediacom internet, plan to stay, and want Verizon coverage for less than Verizon charges. If you might switch home internet soon, a standalone prepaid carrier avoids tying the two together; see prepaid vs. postpaid and how eSIM makes switching easy.

Where is Mediacom available?

FCC records show Mediacom in 1,387 cities and towns across 19 states, about 2.6 million homes. It reaches the most homes in Iowa (77%), Missouri (11%) and Minnesota (11%).

What does Mediacom internet cost?

Mediacom Mobile only makes sense alongside Mediacom internet. Current plans lock the price for two to three years:

WiFi equipment included, unlimited data (uploads over 1 TB a month may be slowed by up to 50%). One-time charges apply. From our Mediacom review.

How do you sign up and keep your number?

  • Have an active Mediacom internet, TV or home phone account.
  • Check your phone works on Verizon's network, or buy one from Mediacom.
  • Get your account number and port-out PIN from your current carrier.
  • Order online or by phone; port at least one line to get the internet discount.
  • Pay the one-time $10 activation fee per line and turn on AutoPay.

Mediacom Mobile vs. a regular Verizon plan

You get the same towers for less, but fewer extras: lower premium-data amounts, SD video on the cheaper plans, and priority below Verizon's postpaid customers when a tower is busy. If you need lots of hotspot data or travel abroad often, compare the higher plans carefully.
