The short answer

For military members and veterans, T-Mobile has the lowest multi-line prices, with Experience More Military at $70 for one line. AT&T takes 10% to 20% off its unlimited plans depending on the tier, and up to 20% off AT&T Fiber when bundled. Verizon discounts its unlimited plans and adds more off when you bundle Fios. For TVs, laptops and monitors, LG's Appreciation Program gives at least 10% off to military, students, teachers, nurses and first responders.

Phone plan discounts for military and veterans

Prices and discounts are from carrier pages as reported by Reviews.org, BroadbandSearch and USMilitary.org between July and October 2026. Many older articles still cite AT&T's former 25% discount, which no longer applies. Check the carrier's page before you switch.

Home internet discounts

Compare providers at your address in our internet provider guides, and see Verizon Fios and AT&T Fiber for plan details.

  • AT&T Fiber: military wireless customers can get up to 20% off AT&T Fiber when they bundle.
  • Verizon Fios: bundling a Verizon unlimited plan with Fios saves up to $120 a year for military customers.
  • T-Mobile Home Internet: no separate military discount; the standard price applies.
  • Lifeline: if no provider near you has a military plan, the federal Lifeline program takes up to $9.25 a month off one qualifying phone or internet bill.

TVs, laptops and monitors

The LG Appreciation Program gives verified military members, veterans, first responders, medical workers, teachers, students and government employees at least 10% off LG.com sale prices, plus free installation on major appliances. It applies on top of Black Friday prices; see our LG Black Friday page.

Other brands, including Dell, run their own member or education stores. Check the brand's site for an ID.me or SheerID verification page before you buy, then compare with our Dell Black Friday page.

Military discounts on home internet: what to check

Home internet discounts are smaller and less common than phone discounts, so the provider's regular price at your address usually matters more. Check whether the discount needs a phone plan from the same company, whether it ends after a promotional period, and whether equipment fees apply.

If you move often with PCS orders, look for providers without annual contracts and with easy transfers. Our guide on how to switch internet providers covers what to ask.

Discounts for first responders and nurses

T-Mobile, AT&T and Verizon each offer first responder plans or discounts, and Verizon and AT&T include nurses in some programs. Eligibility and amounts differ from the military versions; check each carrier's first responder page. LG's Appreciation Program treats first responders, nurses and medical workers the same as military members: at least 10% off LG.com sale prices.

Students and teachers

Carrier discounts for students and teachers change often and are usually smaller than military pricing. For electronics, LG's Appreciation Program covers both groups at the same rate as military members. For phone plans, a low-cost prepaid plan can still beat a discounted big-carrier plan; see our cheapest phone plans guide.

How verification works

Most programs use ID.me or SheerID. You create one account, choose your group, and upload proof if it can't be confirmed automatically. Common documents are a military ID, DD-214 or VA card for veterans, a school email or enrollment letter for students, and a staff ID or pay stub for teachers and nurses.

Once verified with ID.me, you can reuse the same account for other programs that use it, so it's worth setting up once.

Do military discounts beat regular deals?

Not always. A prepaid plan from an MVNO can cost less than a discounted big-carrier plan if you don't need extras like streaming perks or international data. Compare the monthly total for all your lines, including taxes and fees, before switching. Our guide on how to switch carriers and keep your number covers the switch.

Discounts for military families and spouses

Most carrier military plans cover family lines on the same account, but the service member or veteran usually has to be the primary account holder. Spouses and dependents can typically use the discount as added lines rather than opening their own account. LG's Appreciation Program also includes dependents through ID.me.

Gold Star families qualify for some carrier programs, including T-Mobile's. Check each carrier's eligibility list, since definitions differ.

How to stack discounts

Military pricing usually replaces a carrier's regular promotional price rather than adding to it, so compare the military plan with the carrier's current deals before choosing. Bundling phone and home internet with the same company often adds the largest extra savings, as with AT&T Fiber and Verizon Fios.

For electronics, LG's member price applies on top of its sale prices. You can also earn MyLG Rewards points on Partner Store purchases in many cases; check the points shown at checkout.
