Our verdict
If AT&T Fiber reaches your address, it's the easiest recommendation we make. Symmetrical speeds mean uploads as fast as downloads, so video calls, cloud backups and streaming your own gameplay all stay smooth.
Current plans run $50/mo for 300 Mbps, $60 for 500 Mbps, $70 for 1 Gig and $110 for 5 Gig, each with the $10 AutoPay and paperless discount, plus taxes and fees. These aren't 12-month promotional rates, so there's no cable-style jump in year two. Online orders of 1 Gig and 5 Gig have also come with a $100 reward card.
Uploads are where AT&T stands out. Opensignal's May 2026 US fixed broadband report measured AT&T's typical upload at 120 Mbps, more than double Verizon's 58 Mbps, and the best of the five largest ISPs.
Pair it with an AT&T unlimited phone plan and you get $15 to $25 a month off the internet bill, depending on speed, plus free cellular backup if the fiber line drops. The only real catch is availability: fiber build-out happens neighborhood by neighborhood, so check your exact address first.
In J.D. Power's 2026 U.S. Internet Service Provider Satisfaction Study (October 2026), AT&T ranked highest among wired providers in the West (595, fifth year in a row) and the North Central region (578, fourth year), and second in the South (611) behind GFiber.

How much does AT&T Fiber cost?
Internet 300 is $50/mo, Internet 500 is $60, Internet 1000 is $70 and Internet 5000 is $110, each with the $10/mo AutoPay and paperless discount, plus taxes and fees. The discount starts within two bills.
Does AT&T Fiber have data caps?
No. Every AT&T Fiber plan includes unlimited data with no overage fees.
Is there a contract?
No annual contract is required. There are no gateway fees, and installation is $0 whether you self-install or need a technician.
How fast is AT&T Fiber?
Plans range from 300 Mbps up to 5 Gbps, all symmetrical, so your upload speed matches your download. A single wired device tops out around 4.7 Gbps on the 5 Gig plan.
Does AT&T Fiber have a discount for AT&T wireless customers?
Yes. An eligible AT&T unlimited wireless plan takes $15/mo off 300 or 500 Mbps, $20 off 1 Gig and $25 off 5 Gig, and those customers also get free internet backup that switches to cellular if the fiber line goes down.
Is there a low-income plan?
Access from AT&T offers speeds up to 100 Mbps to households on SNAP, NSLP or California SSI, or with income under 200% of the federal poverty line.

About AT&T Fiber
AT&T Fiber is AT&T's fiber-to-the-home service, built neighborhood by neighborhood across its footprint. AT&T bought Quantum Fiber on Feb 2, 2026, and Quantum's fiber customers in 11 states became AT&T Fiber customers.
AT&T also sells Internet Air, its 5G home internet service, for addresses fiber doesn't reach. AT&T Access offers reduced-price internet for qualifying households.
