Verizon Fios plans and guarantees
Verizon One, for new Verizon customers, puts one phone line and home internet on a single $70/mo bill after AutoPay, with taxes, fees, the router and installation included. The internet is Fios 500 Mbps, 5G Home Plus or Verizon Home Internet Lite Extra, depending on what reaches your address, and extra phone lines are $30/mo each. You bring your own phone. More options are in our internet and phone bundle guide.
Our verdict
Verizon Fios consistently earns some of the best customer-satisfaction scores of any large ISP, and it backs that with fiber all the way into the home. Plans run 300 Mbps, 500 Mbps, 1 Gig, 2 Gig and now 5 Gig, starting at $30/mo with Auto Pay ($10 more without), taxes and fees included.
The pricing is the differentiator. Fios advertises all-in prices with no added taxes or fees, the router is included on every plan, and the base rate is guaranteed for three or five years depending on the plan. A $99 setup charge applies unless you're a Verizon mobile customer who enrolls in Mobile + Home within 30 days.
In Opensignal's May 2026 report, Verizon placed a close second nationally for Consistent Quality. Frontier is now part of Verizon too, so the Fios brand sits alongside Frontier Fiber in parts of the country.
The catch is geography: Fios serves the Mid-Atlantic and New England, including Boston, New York City, Philadelphia, Pittsburgh and the Washington DC area. If you're in the footprint, it's one of the best home internet options in the country.
In J.D. Power's 2026 U.S. Internet Service Provider Satisfaction Study (October 2026), Verizon ranked highest among wired providers in the East for the 14th year in a row, scoring 592 out of 1,000, ahead of Cox (549) and Frontier (542).
Verizon has asked the FCC to stop copper landline service in parts of more than a dozen states, from November 30, 2026 at the earliest. If you still have a Verizon copper phone line, see what to do when your copper landline is shut off.

Frequently asked
How much does Verizon Fios cost?
Plans start at $30/mo for 300 Mbps with AutoPay, then $65 for 500 Mbps, $80 for 1 Gig, $90 for 2 Gig and $100 for 5 Gig. Prices are all-in, with no added taxes or fees, and the router is included. A $99 setup charge may apply.
Does Verizon Fios raise prices after a year?
Not during the guarantee. The base rate is locked for three or five years depending on the plan, with five years on 1 Gig and faster. After that the rate can change. The guarantee covers existing customers too when they move to an eligible plan, but it applies to the base rate only, not discounts or perks. If your rate has already gone up, see how to negotiate a price increase.
What if Verizon is retiring my copper line?
Fios customers aren't affected: Fios is already fiber. Verizon has asked the FCC to end copper landline and DSL service in parts of Virginia and eight other states, and in a second group of states, from November 30, 2026 at the earliest. The FCC paused the first request for a full review. Verizon says it won't disconnect a copper line where no replacement is available. If you have a Verizon copper phone or DSL line, see what to do when your landline is retired, and check whether Verizon 5G Home or Fios reaches your address.
Is Verizon Fios really symmetrical?
Nearly. 300 Mbps and 500 Mbps plans are symmetrical, and 1 Gig delivers up to 940 Mbps down and 880 Mbps up. Multi-gig plans average 1.5–2.3 Gbps (2 Gig) and 4.5–5.3 Gbps (5 Gig) wired.
Where is Verizon Fios available?
In the Mid-Atlantic and New England, including Boston, New York City, the Washington DC area, Philadelphia and Pittsburgh. Check your address to confirm coverage.
Are there data caps on Fios?
No. All Fios plans include unlimited data.
Is Frontier part of Verizon now?
Yes. Frontier is now a Verizon company, so Frontier Fiber customers get Verizon mobile discounts. Fios and Frontier still sell separate plans in their own areas.
About Verizon Fios
Fios is Verizon's fiber-to-the-home internet service. It serves the Mid-Atlantic and New England, including Boston, New York City, Philadelphia, Pittsburgh and the Washington DC area, and it consistently earns some of the best customer-satisfaction scores among large internet providers.
Verizon bought Frontier on Jan 20, 2026, so Frontier Fiber now sits alongside Fios in other parts of the country, and Verizon phone customers get discounts on both. Verizon also owns Visible, its prepaid phone and home internet brand, and Starry, the apartment-building wireless provider it bought on Jan 30, 2026.
Fios customers with a Verizon phone plan can join Mobile + Home, which waives the $99 setup fee and adds priority care and cellular backup. Verizon Forward offers discounts on Fios for households on Lifeline, SNAP, WIC or Pell Grants, and Verizon lists discounts for military, first responders, nurses, teachers and students.
