Verizon Home Internet Lite: price, speeds and who it's for
Verizon's cheapest home internet plan: what 25 Mbps can handle, the data slowdown, and the alternatives worth checking first.
Verizon Home Internet Lite is a cellular home internet plan for places without Fios or 5G Home. It's $35 a month with Auto Pay and a Verizon phone plan for typical speeds of 10–25 Mbps, slowing to about 10 Mbps after 150 GB in a month. Lite Extra is $55 with 200 GB at full speed. It suits one or two light users; if you can get 5G Home or T-Mobile Home Internet, those are faster.

What Home Internet Lite is
Verizon Home Internet Lite is a low-cost wireless home internet plan that runs on Verizon's cellular network. Verizon launched it in October 2025 for homes where Fios and 5G Home aren't available, often rural areas where the alternatives are DSL or satellite. It's self-setup: Verizon sends a router and you plug it in.
Plans and prices
| Plan | Speed | Full-speed data | Price with Verizon mobile | Price guarantee |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Home Internet Lite | 10–25 Mbps down, up to 6 up | 150 GB, then up to 10 Mbps | $35/mo | 3 years |
| Home Internet Lite Extra | 10–25 Mbps down, up to 6 up | 200 GB, then up to 10 Mbps | $55/mo | 4 years |
With Auto Pay and paper-free billing, checked Oct 2026. Data is unlimited; after the full-speed allowance, speeds drop to about 10 Mbps down and 3 Mbps up for the rest of the bill cycle.
Without a Verizon phone plan the price is higher. At launch the base price of Lite was $60, with $10 off for Auto Pay and paper-free billing and $15 off with a Verizon mobile plan. Households in Verizon Forward, Verizon's low-income program, can pay as little as $20 a month.
What 25 Mbps is good for
- Fine: email, browsing, video calls for one person, HD streaming on one TV, smart-home devices.
- Tight: two people streaming at once, or one video call while someone else streams.
- Not suited: 4K streaming, large game downloads, uploading big files, or a busy household.
For a sense of what each activity needs, see what internet speed you need. A typical household that streams every evening will use more than 150 GB in a month, so expect the slowdown to 10 Mbps late in the bill cycle.
Lite vs. 5G Home vs. Fios
| Home Internet Lite | 5G Home | Fios | |

Checked Oct 2026. Verizon offers the best product available at your address.
If Verizon offers you 5G Home or Fios, take it: for the same or less money you get far more speed and no slowdown. Lite only makes sense when it's the only Verizon option. More in Fios vs. Verizon 5G Home.
Alternatives to check first
- T-Mobile Home Internet: often available in the same places, typically faster, no data slowdown on its main plans.
- Starlink: much faster almost anywhere with a clear view of the sky, but costs more and the dish is extra.
- Other fixed wireless and DSL: compare on our address checker.
- Verizon 5G Home vs. Starlink if 5G Home is an option at your address.
Who it's for
- One or two people with light use: browsing, email, some streaming.
- Existing Verizon mobile customers, who get the $35 price.
- Homes with no fiber, cable or 5G Home and a budget that rules out satellite.
- A backup connection for a home office.
How to get it
- Check your address on Verizon's site. Lite only appears where Fios and 5G Home aren't offered.
- Add it to your Verizon account to get the mobile discount, and turn on Auto Pay and paper-free billing.
- Place the router near a window on the side of the house facing the nearest tower, and test speeds in the first few days.
- If it's too slow, cancel within Verizon's trial window and try another provider.
