Our verdict
T-Mobile 5G Home Internet is the simplest broadband you can buy: a gateway arrives, you plug it in, and you're online in about 15 minutes. Plans start at $50/mo with AutoPay, or $35 with a T-Mobile phone line, plus taxes and fees. There is no equipment fee beyond a one-time $35 connection charge, no annual contract, and the price is locked for five years.
In J.D. Power's 2026 U.S. Internet Service Provider Satisfaction Study (October 2026), T-Mobile ranked highest for wireless home internet for the third year in a row, scoring 659 out of 1,000 against a segment average of 645.

Performance depends on your distance to the nearest tower and how congested it is, so speeds range widely. For a typical household streaming and browsing it's more than enough; for competitive gaming or heavy uploads, wired still wins.
It's a genuinely great deal where fiber and cable haven't reached — and a strong backup line even where they have.

Frequently asked
How fast is T-Mobile 5G Home Internet?
T-Mobile quotes typical downloads of 170–354 Mbps on Rely (capped at 354 Mbps for new customers) and 170–498 Mbps on Amplified and All-In, with 12–55 Mbps uploads. A quarter of customers get less, depending on signal and how busy the local cell site is.
Is there a contract or equipment fee?
No. Service is month-to-month with the 5G gateway included and no monthly equipment fee. A one-time $35 device connection charge is due at sale.
Can I get it if I have T-Mobile phone service?
Yes. Adding home internet to a T-Mobile phone plan takes $15/mo off, so Rely costs $35/mo with AutoPay.
Is 5G home internet good for gaming?
It's fine for casual online play, but latency is higher and less consistent than fiber or cable for competitive gaming.
Why is my T-Mobile Home Internet slow?
Usually a busy cell site in the evening, a weak signal where the gateway sits, or Wi-Fi inside your home. Move the gateway to a window, test with an Ethernet cable, and check whether your plan has a speed cap. Our guide to why T-Mobile Home Internet is slow covers each fix.
Does it work with VPNs and port forwarding?
VPNs work, though some slow down or drop; lowering the VPN's MTU often helps. T-Mobile Home Internet doesn't give you a public IPv4 address, so port forwarding, game servers and Plex remote access generally don't work directly.
T-Mobile Fiber
In select areas T-Mobile also sells fiber: $35/mo for 300 Mbps, $50 for 1 Gig and $70 for 2 Gig with AutoPay. Standard fiber plans don't carry the 5-year guarantee. See T-Mobile Fiber: plans and prices.
