In brief

Call 1-800-XFINITY (1-800-934-6489), Xfinity's official customer service number, or use the 24/7 Xfinity Assistant chat at xfinity.com/chat or in the Xfinity app. For outages, sign in to the app first: it shows outages at your address and can run a connection test.

How to reach a person faster

  • Sign in to the Xfinity app or website first; many fixes, like restarting the gateway, are quicker there.
  • When you call, have your account number or the phone number on the account ready.
  • At the voice menu, say the reason briefly ("cancel service", "billing question") or ask for an agent.
  • If the issue isn't fixed, ask for a ticket number and write it down with the date and the agent's name.
  • For a price increase, say you're considering cancelling; that usually reaches the retention team. See how to negotiate a price increase.

Check for an outage first

Before calling about slow or no internet, sign in to the Xfinity app or xfinity.com/support. It shows outages at your address and can send text updates. If there's no outage, use our 2-minute test to see whether it's your connection or the app you're using.

Watch out for scam calls

  • Xfinity won't ask you to pay with gift cards or a payment app.
  • If someone calls claiming to be Xfinity, hang up and call 1-800-XFINITY yourself.
  • Only pay through the Xfinity app, xfinity.com, an Xfinity store or the official number.

Common reasons to contact Xfinity

  • Price went up: check whether you're on an older plan; current plans have a 5-year price guarantee. See Xfinity deals and plans.
  • Unexpected fees: ask for an itemized explanation; see how to read your internet bill.
  • Moving: use the Move option on xfinity.com to transfer service.
  • Cancelling: call, then return equipment to a store or by mail to avoid unreturned-equipment charges.
