Still not fixed after step 6?
If wired speeds are below what you pay for, the problem is the line or the plan. Call your provider, or see what else reaches your address.

Frequently asked
Why is my internet slow at night?
Evening congestion on cable and 5G networks is common. If wired speeds drop only at peak hours, it's the network; if Wi-Fi is slow all day, it's your setup.
How do I know if it's my Wi-Fi or my plan?
Test on a device plugged in with a cable. If wired speed matches your plan, the problem is Wi-Fi coverage, not the provider.
Do I need a new router?
If it's more than about five years old or doesn't support Wi-Fi 6, a new one often fixes coverage. Try the free fixes first.
Mesh or extender?
Mesh for larger homes or several floors; an extender for one stubborn room. Both work best placed halfway between the router and the dead spot.
