Our verdict

Breezeline is a regional cable company, formerly Atlantic Broadband and owned by Canada's Cogeco, in about a dozen Eastern states. Its best deals are the faster plans: 500 Mbps for $40/mo and 1 Gig for $45/mo, both with a 5-year price guarantee and WiFi equipment included. That is less than Xfinity or Spectrum charge for similar speeds.

The slower plans are cheaper up front, $20 for 100 Mbps and $30 for 200 Mbps, but their prices only hold for two years before rising to $45 and $55. At those standard rates 1 Gig on the 5-year guarantee is the better buy. Every advertised price assumes EcoSave paperless billing and AutoPay; without them you pay $10/mo more.

Uploads are the weak spot on cable, at about 50 Mbps on 1 Gig. If Verizon Fios or another fiber provider reaches you, it is usually the better choice for video calls and backups. Otherwise Breezeline is a good-value cable option with no data cap or contract.
