Our verdict

Comcast Business wins on reach. Standard 300 Mbps is $70/mo, Performance 500 Mbps $100, Gigabit Extra 1.25 Gig $150 and 2 Gig $180 for the first year, with bank AutoPay and paperless billing, on a 1-year agreement. Dedicated fiber up to 10 Gig is sold by quote.

Watch year two. Comcast's broadband labels list standard rates of $149.95, $199.95 and $399.95 for the first three tiers, so the one-year price more than doubles. The 5-Year Price Lock, at $40/mo more ($110 to $220), avoids that. The 300 and 500 Mbps plans also add a $27.95/mo modem unless you bring your own.

Uploads depend on your line: 35 Mbps on older nodes, 100 to 300 Mbps where Comcast has upgraded, and symmetrical on its newest DOCSIS 4.0 and fiber connections. Check your address before you assume either.

What Comcast Business sells

Static IPs

Static IPs are an optional add-on in blocks of 1, 5 or, in select areas, 13 IPv4 addresses, and Comcast supports static IPv6. Every plan gets a dynamic IP by default.

Security and add-ons

Every plan includes SecurityEdge, which blocks malware, phishing and botnets at the network level. SecurityEdge Preferred adds real-time monitoring from $40/mo. Other add-ons include WiFi Pro, Wireless Connect cellular backup ($35/mo) and Comcast Business Mobile. Each qualifying add-on takes $10/mo off, up to $30/mo.

Dedicated fiber

For an uptime SLA, Comcast sells Dedicated Internet with symmetrical speeds from 100 Mbps up to 400 Gbps in select areas, static IPs included, plus SD-WAN, DDoS mitigation and managed firewall services. It's priced by quote.

Who it's for

Businesses that need the widest footprint and want predictable bills: the 5-Year Price Lock is unusual in business internet. If uploads matter and fiber reaches you, compare AT&T Business Fiber or Verizon Fios Business. For backup options, see business internet failover. To compare it with 5G, see T-Mobile Business Internet vs. Comcast Business.

Comcast Business plans, Ethernet, Voice and Mobile

Comcast Business is sold as Xfinity Business in some ads and searches; they're the same company and network.

Ethernet and Dedicated Internet

For guaranteed bandwidth, Comcast Business sells Ethernet and Dedicated Internet over fiber from 100 Mbps up to 400 Gbps in select areas, with static IPs and an SLA. It's priced by quote. See dedicated internet explained and static IPs and SLAs.

Business Voice

Comcast Business Voice adds phone lines with features like call forwarding and voicemail to email; bundling a line with internet typically costs less than buying them separately. See business VoIP and internet.

Business Mobile

Comcast Business Mobile runs on Verizon's network and is discounted when added to Comcast Business internet.

Backup and security

Connection Pro adds cellular backup when the wired line or power drops, and SecurityEdge adds network security. See business internet failover.

Frequently asked

How much does Comcast Business internet cost?

First-year prices are $70 (300 Mbps), $100 (500 Mbps), $150 (1.25 Gig) and $180 (2 Gig), with bank AutoPay and paperless billing. With the 5-Year Price Lock they're $110, $140, $190 and $220.

What happens after the first year?

On one-year pricing, the rate moves to Comcast's standard price, listed on its broadband labels at $149.95 for 300 Mbps, $199.95 for 500 Mbps and $399.95 for 1.25 Gig. The 5-Year Price Lock keeps the rate for 60 months.

Is there a contract?

Yes, a 1-year agreement on both one-year and 5-year pricing. A 30-day money-back guarantee applies.

What are Comcast Business upload speeds?

25 to 300 Mbps on cable, depending on the line: 35 Mbps on older nodes, 100 to 300 Mbps on upgraded ones, and symmetrical where Comcast has DOCSIS 4.0 (FDX) or fiber.

Does Comcast Business offer an SLA?

Contractual SLAs come with Comcast Business Dedicated Internet, symmetrical fiber up to 10 Gbps, sold by quote.

Can I get a static IP?

Yes, as an add-on, in blocks of 1, 5 or, in select areas, 13 IPv4 addresses. Static IPv6 is also supported. Every plan gets a dynamic IP by default.

What is Comcast SecurityEdge?

Network-level protection against malware, phishing and botnets, included with every Comcast Business Internet plan. SecurityEdge Preferred adds continuous monitoring from $40/mo.

Is Comcast Business available at my business?

Availability is set address by address, even inside the same city. Check every provider at your address to see whether Comcast Business reaches your building and what else is there.

Do I need backup internet with Comcast Business?

If your business can't go offline (card payments, phones, cloud apps), yes. A cheap 5G line such as T-Mobile Business Internet Backup keeps you online during an outage. See our business failover guide for setup.

Comcast Business vs. Spectrum Business: which is better?

Both are cable with slower uploads than fiber. Spectrum Business has no contract; Comcast often needs a term agreement for its best price. They rarely serve the same address. Read our Spectrum Business review.
