TP-Link Deco BE25 review: cheap Wi-Fi 7 mesh
What you get from the cheapest Wi-Fi 7 mesh system, what it leaves out, and when the Deco X55 is enough.
The Deco BE25 is the cheapest way to get Wi-Fi 7 mesh and 2.5 Gbps ports. A three-pack usually costs $209 to $270 and handles gigabit plans well. It has no 6 GHz band, so it won't match tri-band systems. On a plan under 500 Mbps, the Deco X55 saves money.
About the FCC router ban: this model was approved before the March 2026 ban, so it can still be sold and keeps getting updates at least until March 1, 2027. Are TP-Link routers safe to buy?

Prices checked Oct 18, 2026. The three-pack lists at $299 but usually sells for $209 to $270.
Black Friday 2026: Amazon, Best Buy and Walmart hadn't announced their Black Friday sale dates as of Oct 29. Black Friday is Nov 27, and Amazon's sale opened Nov 20 last year. Until sale prices go live, see our router and mesh deals page.

Performance
Can Buy or Not measured 926 Mbps on a 1 Gig plan and about 600 Mbps in a distant bedroom when connected to the MLO network, versus about 300 Mbps on the standard network. Dong Knows Tech rated it 8 out of 10 and noted that, like any dual-band mesh, it does best with Ethernet between units.
Connect your phones and laptops to the Deco's separate MLO network if they support Wi-Fi 7. In Can Buy or Not's testing, that roughly doubled speed in a far room.

Deco BE25 vs. Deco X55
The BE25 is the better buy for plans faster than 500 Mbps; read our Deco X55 review if your plan is slower.
Setup with your provider’s gateway
Most Xfinity, Spectrum and Fios customers have a gateway that is already a router. To avoid two networks fighting each other, either put the gateway in bridge mode and let the Deco handle Wi-Fi, or keep the gateway as the router and switch the Deco to Access Point mode in the Deco app. Bridge mode gives you all the Deco features; Access Point mode is easier if your provider doesn’t allow bridging.
How many units?
TP-Link rates each unit at about 2,200 sq ft, so a 2-pack covers a typical 2,000 to 3,500 sq ft home and a 3-pack covers up to about 6,600 sq ft. Thick walls, brick and multiple floors cut that range. Place units no more than two rooms apart, and wire them together with Ethernet if you can.

Questions
Is the Deco BE25 real Wi-Fi 7?
It supports Wi-Fi 7 features like multi-link operation and 4K-QAM on 2.4 and 5 GHz, but it has no 6 GHz band, so it can't reach the top speeds of tri-band Wi-Fi 7 systems.
How much does the Deco BE25 cost?
About $90 for one unit and $209 to $270 for a three-pack, which TP-Link lists at $299.
Is the Deco BE25 good for gigabit internet?
Yes. Can Buy or Not measured 926 Mbps on a 1 Gig plan, and the 2.5 Gbps ports leave room for faster plans with wired backhaul.
Deco BE25 or Deco X55?
Get the BE25 for a plan over 500 Mbps or if you want 2.5 Gbps ports. The X55 is enough for slower plans and costs less.
