US Mobile review (2026): plans, networks and the catch
What US Mobile's plans cost, how its three networks differ, and who should switch.
US Mobile is a good pick if you want an inexpensive prepaid plan on the network that works best where you live. Unlimited Starter costs $25 a month with taxes included and runs on Verizon, AT&T or T-Mobile. The catch: Starter data has lower priority, so speeds can drop on busy towers. Try it with the free 30-day trial first. Weighing it against Visible and Mint? See Visible vs. Mint vs. US Mobile.

Verdict
- Choice of all three major networks, switchable in the app
- $25 Unlimited Starter with taxes and fees included

- Big hotspot allowances on Dark Star
- No contract or credit check
- Starter data is deprioritized and can slow on busy towers

- Best prices need a year paid up front
Plans and prices
Prices are per line and stay flat as you add lines: four lines of Unlimited Starter are $100 a month. US Mobile often runs first-year codes on annual plans that bring Starter to about $16.58 a month; check the current offer on US Mobile's plan page.
Run the free trial before you pay for a year. The best prices need annual prepay, so test coverage at home, at work and on your commute first.
The three networks
Coverage is the same as the host network, because you use the same towers. WhistleOut measured up to 488 Mbps on Dark Star in its US Mobile testing and about 350 Mbps peak on Light Speed near a 5G tower, with everyday Light Speed speeds of 20 to 40 Mbps. Starter lines get lower priority than the carrier's own customers, so expect slowdowns at crowded venues and at rush hour.
On Unlimited Starter, pick Dark Star if AT&T covers you well. It is the only network where Starter has no high-speed data cap, and it doubles the hotspot allowance to 20 GB. You can switch networks later in the app if coverage disappoints.
Traveling outside the US? A travel eSIM usually beats US Mobile's roaming add-ons on price per GB.
Which plan to get
- Most people: Unlimited Starter on the network that already works at home. Pick Dark Star if you use a lot of data or hotspot.
- Heavy hotspot or remote work: Unlimited Premium. On Dark Star it includes 100 GB of full-speed hotspot, then 100 GB at 8 Mbps. Pair it with a mobile hotspot if your carrier allows the SIM in one.
- Frequent travelers: Premium on Light Speed for roaming in 180+ countries with 20 GB of data abroad.
- Light users: Light 2GB at $8 or Unlimited Flex paid yearly.
How US Mobile compares
At $25, Unlimited Starter matches Visible, which runs only on Verizon. Mint Mobile is cheaper if you prepay a year, but only on T-Mobile. US Mobile's advantage is the network choice: if your coverage is poor, you switch in the app instead of switching carriers. Holiday promotions from all three are tracked on our Black Friday phone plan deals page.
How to switch
- Start the free trial on a second eSIM line to test coverage before you port your number.
- Get your current carrier's account number and port-out PIN.
- Activate with eSIM in the US Mobile app, or order a free physical SIM.
- Turn off any autopay with your old carrier after the number moves.

Questions
Is US Mobile good?
For most people, yes. It runs on Verizon, AT&T and T-Mobile towers, so coverage matches the network you choose, and its $25 Unlimited Starter plan includes taxes and fees. The trade-off is lower data priority on Starter, so speeds can slow on busy towers.
What networks does US Mobile use?
Warp is Verizon, Dark Star is AT&T and Light Speed is T-Mobile. You pick one per line and can switch later in the app.
Which US Mobile network should I pick?
Start with the carrier that already works where you live. Dark Star gives the most data and hotspot on Unlimited Starter. Warp is the only one that supports cellular smartwatches. Light Speed covers the most countries for roaming.
Does US Mobile have a free trial?
Yes. US Mobile offers a free 30-day trial with no credit card required, which is a low-risk way to test coverage at home and work.
Is US Mobile prepaid?
Yes. You pay monthly or yearly in advance, with no contract and no credit check. See prepaid vs. postpaid for how that compares.
