Our verdict

Metronet Business is now T-Fiber by Metronet Business, owned by T-Mobile. Essential plans run symmetrical up to 5 Gig with no data caps; Commercial adds SLAs, 99% guaranteed uptime and priority support; and Elite reaches 100 Gig with 99.999% uptime and dedicated bandwidth.

The current offer is $59.95/mo for business internet bundled with Business Voice. Read the fine print: new customers sign a contract with a 60-month minimum term, and installation, surcharges and taxes are extra.

Five years is a long commitment for a small business. If you value flexibility over SLAs, compare a no-contract fiber option first.

What Metronet Business includes

Shared IPs and static IPs

Metronet uses carrier-grade NAT (CGNAT) for standard dynamic IPs. That means port forwarding won't work and some VPNs can break. Metronet's static IPs aren't behind CGNAT, so businesses that run a VPN, remote cameras or a server should add one.

Router and equipment

Metronet installs the fiber terminal (ONT) and is responsible for service up to it. A router isn't included: bring your own and your own IT support, or pay monthly for Metronet's Managed Router, which supports no more than one static IP.

Voice and coverage

Business voice options include phone lines, hosted unified communications and PRI/SIP trunking. Metronet fiber reaches about 3 million homes and businesses in 300+ communities across 19 states. Very small businesses in those areas are served by T-Mobile Fiber instead; see the T-Mobile review.

Who it's for

Businesses that want SLA-backed fiber and plan to stay put for five years. If you're not sure, compare no-contract fiber from AT&T or gFiber.
