Spectrum deals for new vs. existing customers
Spectrum's headline prices and the free mobile line are for new customers. Existing customers don't get those, but they can usually lower a bill by moving to a current plan or asking the retention team.
New customers pay $30, $40 or $60 a month for the first year (Internet 100, 500 or 1 Gig) and get one Spectrum Unlimited Mobile line free for 12 months. Spectrum counts you as new only if you haven't had Spectrum service in the past 30 days. Existing customers can move to a current plan, add mobile lines and ask for a retention offer, but Spectrum doesn't publish a loyalty discount.
New vs. existing Spectrum customers
Checked Oct 11, 2026. Offers vary by address and change often.
What existing customers can do
- Move to a current plan. Spectrum's older Flagship, Ultra and Gig plans rose $10 a month in 2026. Current plans weren't affected, and may be faster for the same price or less.
- Add Spectrum Mobile. Mobile lines are open to existing internet customers, and bundles with mobile or TV carry lower internet prices and longer price guarantees.
- Ask the retention team. Say you're considering leaving and have a competitor's price for your address. Customers report 12-month discounts of around $10 a month.
- Drop paid extras. Advanced WiFi is $10 a month below 1 Gig; your own router avoids it.
What existing customers can't get
The first-year promo prices and the free mobile line are for new customers, and Spectrum's definition of new is no Spectrum service at your address in the past 30 days. Cancelling and waiting a month to sign up again means a month without internet, a new activation fee and the same price jump after year one. See Spectrum's price after 12 months.
What to say when you call
Ask for the retention or loyalty team, not general support. Say what you pay now, what a competitor charges at your address, and ask two things: can you move to a current plan, and is there a discount to stay. Our guide to negotiating an internet price increase has the full script, and checking what else reaches your address gives you the competitor price.
Spectrum's best prices often come with a Spectrum Mobile line. These prepaid phone plans work with any home internet provider.
