Internet price increase 2026: which providers raised prices
The 2026 increases mostly hit older plans. AT&T added $5 a month to some Fiber and copper plans from August 16, and Spectrum added $10 to its legacy Flagship, Ultra and Gig plans. New customers on current plans with a price lock aren't affected. If your bill went up, check whether it was a price change, a fee or an expired promotion, then ask to move to a current plan.

Price increase, fee or expired promo?
- A price increase raises the plan price itself. AT&T and Spectrum's 2026 changes are this kind. A price lock or guarantee usually protects you from it.
- A fee increase raises a line item such as a regulatory or administrative fee. Most price locks don't cover fees.
- An expired promotion is the most common reason a bill jumps. The plan price doesn't change; the discount ends. See Spectrum's price after 12 months or Frontier's.
AT&T's Billing Center has a "See what changed" tool for bill changes of $5 or more.
What to do if your bill went up
Ask your provider to move you to a current plan. Older plans are the ones getting increases, and current plans often come with a multi-year price lock: our price locks compared shows what each provider promises. Have a competitor's price for your address ready and ask for the retention team; our guide to negotiating an internet price increase covers what to say. If they won't move, compare what else reaches your address.
